AMERICORPS VISTA POSITIONS
COMMON GROUND OUTDOOR ADVENTURES (VISTA position)
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA position is hosted by the Public & School Partnership and is based at Common Ground Outdoor Adventures in Logan, UT. Common Ground aims to ensure that individuals with disabilities are aware of opportunities and have access to outdoor recreation. VISTA members will help build organizational capacity and ensure suitability by coordinating volunteers, acquiring funding and materials via donations and grants, and carrying out outreach strategies to increase participation in active recreation and outdoor adventure experiences for youths and adults with disabilities.

ZOOTAH (VISTA position)
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA position is hosted by the Public & School Partnership and is based at Zootah in Logan, UT.  The VISTA member will increase education programs and outreach to the community. In doing this, more people in the local community will benefit from Zootah's programs and, in raising awareness of and support for programs, Zootah will be able to provide affordable and accessible services for all.

LITTLE LAMBS (VISTA position)
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA service position is hosted by the Public & School Partnership (PSP) and is based at Little Lambs Foundation for Kids in Logan, UT. The Little Lambs Diaper Bank is committed to helping families in Cache County who need diapers and wipes. The organization distributed close to 800,000 diapers last year to low-income families and partner agencies. The goal of this VISTA position is to provide support to all aspects of the Little Lambs Diaper Bank programming. The VISTA will assist the Program Director and Executive Director in the development, improvement, and coordination of everyday programming. The VISTA will, in turn, gain a broad exposure to the inner workings of a high-functioning nonprofit organization.

ATHLETICS UNITED (VISTA position)
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA service position is hosted by the Public & School Partnership (PSP) and is based with Athletics United in Logan, UT. Athletics United offers affordable access to athletics and learning services to refugee and immigrant youth and their families. The goal of this VISTA position is to assist Athletics United in building capacity and implementing sustainable systems and programming, assisting program staff in raising awareness for Athletics United in the community and beyond, and by identifying and securing funding through local donations, partnerships, and grants. The VISTA member will also assist Athletics United staff in developing sustainable policy and training systems to foster a safe, healthy, supportive environment for all program participants.

SCHOOL-BASED POSITIONS (VISTA position)
These full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA service positions are hosted by the Public & School Partnership (PSP) and serve youth and families in school-based settings across Cache County, UT. VISTA Members are placed in local schools to help improve and implement programs that support student academic success and attendance, college and career readiness, parent engagement, student experience, and intervention strategies. Specific activities vary by site. Internship credit may also be negotiated for university students.

At this time, open positions include*: Cache High School (Logan, UT), Sky View High School (Smithfield, UT), Green Canyon High School (North Logan, UT), Mountain Crest High School (Hyrum, UT)

THE FAMILY PLACE UTAH (VISTA position)
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA position is hosted by the Public & School Partnership and is based at The Family Place Utah in Cache County, UT.  The VISTA member will work in the organization's Advancement Department and will assist The Family Place in coordinating volunteers for The Family Place's many events and family-friendly activities, with the ultimate goals of increasing funding for The Family Place and helping disadvantaged families access services offered at The Family Place. Events and activities are held throughout the year, and the VISTA member will collaborate with The Family Place's volunteer coordinator and other advancement team personnel. *This position is based at The Family Place's Smithfield office.

CACHE EMPLOYMENT & TRAINING CENTER (VISTA position)
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA position is hosted by the Public & School Partnership and is based at Cache Employment & Training Center in Logan, UT. The VISTA member will raise awareness of and engagement in the CETC’s programs, fundraising efforts, and partnership opportunities. The VISTA will collaborate on targeted marketing and outreach strategies, social media campaigns, donation solicitation and grant writing, networking, partnership building and maintenance, and contributions to sustainability.

STOKES NATURE CENTER (VISTA position)
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA service position is hosted by the Public and School Partnership (PSP) and is based at Stokes Nature Center in Logan, UT. The Stokes Nature Center is committed to ensure vital nature education programs and activities remain affordable and accessible for all community members, especially those living under or at-risk of living under circumstances of poverty. By enhancing the center’s free programs and therefore connecting more community members to nature, this placement will ideally ease the pressure of living in poverty and ensure community members are fulfilling the educational and outdoor recreation needs of the community for themselves and others.​

CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER (VISTA position)
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA service position is hosted by the Public and School Partnership (PSP) and is based at Cache County Children’s Justice Center in Logan, UT. The Cache County Children’s Justice Center is committed to reduce child abuse in northern Utah by providing outreach and education to community members. By engaging in activities that provide outreach and education to community members, this site hopes to, in turn, increase awareness, understanding, access, and use of child abuse resources and supports that are available to community members.

CACHE REFUGEE & IMMIGRANT CONNECTION (VISTA position)
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA position is hosted by the Public & School Partnership and is based at the Cache Refugee & Immigrant Connection (CRIC) in Logan, UT. CRIC is looking for an organized, forward-thinking individual who is excited about building the capacity of an impactful organization Cache Valley. The VISTA Member serving with the center will ensure sustainability and build capacity of the organization by conducting research, developing grant timelines, and preparing and carrying out best practices for grant-writing. The VISTA will also develop, improve upon, and coordinate community needs assessments and coordinate social media outreach. The mission of the CRIC is to promote integration, economic self-sufficiency, and positive connections among refugees, immigrants, and the wider community through two-way education, improved access to existing resources, and development of new services​.

AmeriCorps VISTA Program & Application Information

Application Instructions: 
To apply, click on the link to the listing on the AmeriCorps Portal. This is required of all AmeriCorps VISTA Members. You may initially apply on Indeed or Aggie Handshake; however, all successful candidates will eventually also need to apply through the
AmeriCorps Portal in order to be placed in a service term.

Benefits of a full-year VISTA service:
  • Living allowance: $1350 per 30 days for VISTA Members ($1534 per 30 days for VISTA Leaders)
  • End of service award: $6,345 education award OR $1,800 cash ($3000 cash for VISTA Leaders)
  • Relocation allowance, if relocating at least 50 miles from home of record to serve with PSP site: $750
  • ​Mileage reimbursement for all service-related travel
  • Student loan forbearance (deferment may be available through loan holder) and interest repayment (if eligible)
  • Child care (if eligible)
  • Supplemental health coverage options
  • Paid personal and medical leave, training, holidays
  • Valuable professional experience 
  • Non-competitive eligibility (NCE) for federal job positions following completion of service term

Minimum requirements/commitments of full-year VISTA service:
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must hold U.S. citizenship or legal state residency status
  • 40 hours a week for entire service term
  • One-year service term (one calendar year)
  • Mandatory participation in VISTA member orientation (VMO) and PSP on-site orientation & training (OSOT) 

 

AmeriCorps Application Tips

  • Update old applications if you plan on using them to apply to other positions
  • Put the email address you’ll check most regularly
  • Make sure your earliest availability date is accurate
  • Include ALL of your experience and skills (wondering if its relevant? Just put it on the application – we use the application to screen out applicants so it is better to have too much detail than not enough)
  • Include correct email addresses for references
  • Follow up with your references to complete the reference email form
