Public & School Partnership Mission

The Public & School Partnership (PSP) is an educational nonprofit organization based at Utah State University in Cache Valley, UT. PSP accomplishes its mission by building partnerships between schools, nonprofit organizations, and community members.

PSP's full-time AmeriCorps VISTA Members are placed in schools and nonprofit organizations across northern Utah, where they recruit and train volunteers, implement programs for at-risk youth and their families, raise funds, write grants, and organize service learning projects, among many other service activities. In short, they do anything they can to make their host site more effective. Our Senior & Community Volunteers Program connects committed and motivated individuals of all ages to meaningful volunteer opportunities in education-focused organizations throughout Cache County where they utilize their unique skills and talents to support youth, adults, and administration through various direct and indirect service efforts.

What is an AmeriCorps VISTA Member?

Picture
Service members with Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA members) commit to a full year of service during which they work full-time to improve education and eradicate poverty in our community. To better understand the fight against poverty, they volunteer to live at 110% of the national poverty level. They give up luxuries--even the luxury of financial security--to become the best public servants they can be. Many of our VISTA Members will use the skills and relationships they build with PSP as a launchpad into lives of service as educators, counselors, and social workers. We are proud of the work our VISTA Members do, and we are honored to support them in their service.

What is PSP's Senior & Community Volunteers Program?

Picture
PSP's Senior & Community Volunteers Program connects motivated community members of all ages with meaningful volunteer opportunities in Cache County, UT. Volunteers with this program dedicate their time and talents to supporting youth and adults in different capacities and education-focused organizations, including schools, family centers, and environmental programs. These volunteers set their own service hours and have the opportunity to serve in schools and organizations ("stations") that fit with their unique skill set. Many of these volunteers seek to serve through PSP's Senior & Community Volunteers Program because of its flexibility, it allows them to employ their skills and talents or learn new ones, and it engages them in impactful projects that directly or indirectly benefit community members.

Where do our VISTA Members serve?
